Amidst the crisis of this Covid-19 situation, one of the many things that have been booming apart from technologies is the home delivery of food and online grocery

During the initial days of lockdown, home deliveries of food were restricted due to the safety precautions. But when it started, every food business adopted the trend of home delivery and even, surprisingly, the numbers of orders too are pretty high considering the situation. It seems both parties have accepted the change whole-heartedly.  

Although there were many rules & guidelines which were applied by the government on the food businesses regarding the practice of home delivery and running the kitchen so as to maintain proper precautions and safety, yet there are few safety precautions that are needed to be followed by the customer as well each time they receive a delivery from any restaurant or grocery store in the new normal era of COVID-19.

Make arrangements to place a box or something at the door where the delivery person can leave your package. Also linger for some safe seconds before opening the door to allow the delivery person to move a safe distance away.
  • Proper sanitization after receiving the package
It is important to remember that whenever you receive a delivery, you must follow a proper sanitization schedule so as to make sure that you eliminate any chances of infection from the germs that the package may have been carrying. If possible, let the package sit untouched for about 24 hours before handling it. In case, it isn’t possible to wait that long, make sure that you discard the outer covering immediately. In case of the cooked food, transfer them to your home dishes and reheat before consuming them. If other grocery items, give them a wash in water mixed with baking soda or salt, wipe and store. After everything, do not forget to wash your hands properly.
  • Maintain a healthy 7ft distance if contact is necessary at all.
